Western Districts, Wimmera and Mallee - Victoria

Territory Manager: Andrew Stephan

Hello, I am the new Territory Manager for the Wimmera, Mallee and Western Districts. I have a strong background in agriculture and understanding of the region, as I grew up on a farm near Nhill. I later completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Agriculture) and spent 4 years since working as an agronomist in Deniliquin; here I worked with crops such as cereals, canola, legumes, pasture, millet, sorghum, corn and rice. Working with these crops has given me a good knowledge base for this role.

As I started in late August I have spent some time looking at canola trials and am excited to see four new varieties coming through that will have a good fit for the Wimmera, Mallee and Western districts. Oasis CL Juncea, Storm TT, Hurricane TT and Hyola 76 to replace Hyola 75.

There has been extensive trial work across western Victoria again this year, promising yields and oils have been recorded, look out for these results in our regional brochure that will be released in the New Year.

Due to heavy rains in some areas forage sorghum has been very popular across the western districts and south east South Australia, Speedfeed 2, Pac 8411 and Superdan 2 have been the popular varieties.

I hope you all have a safe and happy festive season and look forward to working with you in the new year.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Andrew Stephan
