Annual cook off aids children's hospital appeal - August 1, 2005

This was the fare for the annual Pacific Seeds' staff cook off. Every year staff members are invited to enter their favorite culinary delights to be judged as the best of.

This year was the fifth year that the cook off has been held and while some hardy souls were confident enough to enter their creations the rest of the staff supported the event by paying a gold coin donation to taste test all of the dishes. The 'Working Wonders for Sick Kids' at the Royal Brisbane Children's Hospital benefits from the annual donations. This year funds raised amounted to $397. The judging was carried out by chosen staff members and guest judges, Uni Plaza Bakery owner Rob Balderson and Royal Brisbane Children's Hospital representative, Marianne Mengle.

The category winners were – best pie/sausage roll, Matt Needham first; Lesleigh Trinder second; best cake/slice, Jennifer Machar first; Janice Evans, second; best jam/jellies Anne Davidson first and second; best Asian dish, Dee Tankard first, Jocelyn Davey second. The winner of the raffle prize, a leadlight lamp made and donated by Dee Tankard was Graeme Smith.
